Mrs. Willie Mae (Short) Long, of Red Banks Road in Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Cumberland County Hospital having attained the age of 81 years, 1 month & 27 days. She was born in the Peytonsburg (Littrell) Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky on Monday, April 29, 1940 the daughter of Willie Porter & Bernice Alma (Sharp) Short. She was a member of The Church of Christ, Hickory Grove Congregation, Homemaker, Co-owner of Long’s Auto Sales, And Worked at R.C.A. in Indianapolis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, James E. Long whom she wed on April 7, 1955, he passed away on August 21, 2020, Son, Gary Lee Long, son-in-law, Charlie Grider, sister & brother-in-law, Ivalee & Joe Hurt, father-in-law & mother-in-law, Stanley & Sylvia (Davidson) Long.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Darrell (& Linda) Long, daughter, Sheila Mae (Long) Grider, Grandchildren, Lindsey (& Jeff) Huff, Jessica Grider (& A.J.), Wesley (& Whitney) Long, Great-Grandchildren, Braxton Long, Hudson Long, Henley Huff, Bella Grider, Sarah Faith Huff, Joseph Grider, & Many Beloved Cousins.
The Funeral was conducted on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Brewington officiating. Casket Bearers were Matt Williams, Pat Williams, Wesley Long, Jeff Huff, A.J. Weiss, Doug Hogan. Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
