Mr. Arthur Wayne Key of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 24 days. He was born in the Peytonsburg Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky on Monday, April 19, 1943, the son of Arthur “Dutch” and Noxie Glee (Watson) Key. He was of church of Christ faith, a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ, a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Cumberland County School Board for 20 years, and a business owner and logger, owning Key Brothers Logging.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janice Nell “Jan” (Watson) Key, whom he wed Wednesday, April 23, 1969, siblings, Fayne Groce, Anthony Key, and Phillip Key, nephews, Tony Key, Tim Huff, and niece, Jamie Abney.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (and Paul) Stalcup of Burkesville, Kentucky, his siblings, Phyllis (and David) Huff of Peytonsburg, Kentucky, Tommy (and Sherry) Key of Burkesville, Kentucky, Marian (and Roger) Murphy of Burkesville, Kentucky, Johnny Key of Peytonsburg, Kentucky, Stevie (and Mildred) Key of Burkesville, Kentucky, Lucinda (and Mayford) Boles of Celina, Tennessee, brothers-in-law, J. V. Groce and Jack Watson, both of Burkesville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Keylee Stalcup and Kaden Stalcup, nieces and nephews, Jason Huff, James V. Groce, Jr., Nathan Key, Toni Glee Key, Nicole Morgan, Thad Huff, Christian Key Strode, Natalie Craft, Coty Key, Colby Key, Mara Leveridge, Darla Curtis, David Watson, Vickie Hubbard, Kim Thomas, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, October 17, 2020, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Thompson and Bro. Tommy Watson officiating. Burial was in the Christian Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky with military honors by the Monticello D. A. V. Chapter #105. Casket bearers were Jason Huff, James V. Groce, Jr., Thad Huff, Jefferson Abney, Coty Key, Colby Key, Bill Curtis, Frazier Curtis and Nathan Key. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to the Christian Chapel Church, The Cumberland County High School Athletic Boosters, or WE CARE.
