Mr. Waldo Henson Pierce of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at his residence in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 92 years, 8 months and 21 days. He was born in Clinton County, Kentucky on Monday, June 15, 1931, the son of Jones Campbell Pierce & Flossie Jackson (King) Pierce. He was of the Christian faith, and a member of the Burkesville Church of Christ. Henson proudly served in The United States Army during the Korean War, loved carpentry, and was the owner of Pierce Builders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fulton Stephenson Pierce, and Billy Floyd Pierce, and grandchild, Erin Nicole Vibbert.
He is survived by his wife, Serena Carol (Collins) Pierce, whom he wed on Wednesday, December 28, 1955, children, Cindy (& Jeffery) Vibbert, Kelly (& Kenny) Claywell, both of Burkesville, and Stacy (& Keith) Cooper of Harrodsburg Kentucky, grandchildren, Bethany Vibbert (& Sebastian Vincent), Kurtis (& Katlyn) Claywell, Jacob Cooper, Hannah (& Brad) Burkhart, great-grandchildren, Grayson Cooper, Henry Cooper, Kamryn Claywell, Kora Claywell, Ezra Burkhart, and Eden Burkhart.
The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky, with Brad Burkhart and Jeff Vibbert officiating. Song leaders were Keith Cooper and Jacob Cooper, poems were shared by Grayson Cooper, Henry Cooper and Hannah Burkhart. Scripture was read by Kurtis Claywell and a prayer was offered by Kenny Claywell. Flowers were placed by Kamryn Claywell and Kora Claywell. Casket Bearers were Jacob Cooper, Henry Cooper, Kurtis Claywell, Grayson Cooper, Frankie Sells and Tim Struthers. Honorary Casket Bearers were Thomas Baker, Jonathan Collins, Jerry Tade, Jimmy Claywell, Glen Garner, Bobby Cary and Danny Stilts. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky. Military Honors were provided by VFW Post # 5419 of Burkesville, Kentucky.
