Shelia (Long) Grider

Mrs. Shelia Mae (Long) Grider of Peytonsburg, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at her residence in Cumberland County, Kentucky having attained the age of 62 years, 1 month & 14 days. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, March 2, 1963, the daughter of James E. & Willie Mae (Short) Long. She was of the Christian faith, a member of Grace Union Baptist Church, and worked as a secretary for Koala Adolescent Drug Rehab in Indianapolis, and the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office of Cumberland County, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Jessie Grider, whom she wed on Saturday, June 5, 1982, brother, Gary Long, maternal grandparents, Willie Porter & Alma (Sharp) Short, paternal grandparents, Stanley & Sylvia (Davidson) Long, sister-in-law, Betty Grider, and special aunt & uncle, Ivalee & Joe Hurt.

She is survived by her children, Jessica Grider (& A.J. Weiss) of Peytonsburg, Kentucky, grandbabies and her world, Bella Mae Grider and Joseph Wade Grider, brother, Jimmy (& Linda) Long of Peytonsburg, Kentucky, nieces and nephews, Jeff (& Lindsey) Huff, Wesley (& Whitney) Long, Whitney Grider, special cousin, Donnie (& Bernice) Jones, special friends, Cindy Shoopman, Sandy Huddleston, Donna Pearl, Tina Graham, Glenda Grider, Linda Tilford.

The funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, April 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Todd Bryant officiating and Bro. Jeff Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were A.J Weiss, Wesley Long, Stevie Joe Davidson, Jonathan Thacker, Jonathan Daniels, and Austin Weiss. Honorary Casket Bearer was Stephen Cox.

Norris-New Funeral Home of Burkesville, Kentucky, was honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
