Mr. Roger Darrell Shields of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 20 days. He was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Thursday, August 21, 1947, the son of Martin Preston and Nelda Lee (Lindsey) Shields. He was of the Baptist faith, member of Judio Church of Christ, was a retired Master Sgt. With the United States Air Force, and was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel N. (Morales) Shields, whom he wed on Monday, July 26, 1999, of Burkesville, Kentucky, children, Vanessa (& Shannon) Compton of Glasgow, Kentucky, Loralee (& John Alex) Watson of Burkesville, Kentucky, Emily Shields (& Colby Huddleston) of Burkesville, Kentucky, Analea (& Garrit) Manthei of Anchorage, Alaska, Brian (& Cheyenne) Fauber of Burkesville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Dylan (& Christy) Compton, Alyssa Bull, Claire Bull, Mila Compton, John Marshall Watson, Jonah Maverick Watson, James Maddox Watson, great-grandchildren, Ivory Lee, John Houston Mayhew.
The celebration of life service was conducted on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Castillo officiating and Glenn Simpson reading an eulogy.
Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of the local arrangements.
