Mr. Richard Duane Williams of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 6 days. He was born in the Kettle Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky on Wednesday, June 15, 1932, the son of Richard “Rich” B. Hayes Williams and Adgie Clare (Coop) Williams. He was a Christian, a member of Waterview Church of Christ, a retired veteran of the Air Force and the Air National Guard, a pilot, Farm Bureau Agent, a carpenter, farmer, and was a former employee of Norris-New Funeral Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Williams, and his sister, Carolyn Williams Crawley.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue (Riddle) Williams of Burkesville, Kentucky, whom he wed on Monday, October 19, 1998, daughter, Christina Beth (& Rick) Haggerty of Glasgow, Kentucky, step-children, Tracy (& Ed) McNally of Nashville, Tennessee, Joe Todd (& Tina) Baise of Glasgow, Kentucky, Marty (& Stacy) Smith of Marrowbone, Kentucky, siblings, Judith Cloyd of Burkesville, Kentucky, Audrey Gwen Capps of Louisville, Kentucky, Barbara Smith of La Grange, Kentucky, Bethada Watson of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, grandchildren, Christia Borst, Richard Haggerty III, Robert (& Samantha) Haggerty, Jericho Haggerty, step-grandchildren, Mary Glenn Mellor, Sarah Grace Smith, Ellise Virginia Smith, Luke Baise, Bronnie Baise, Beth Baise, Annie Baise, great-grandchildren, Lindsey Borst, Meagan Borst, Kaiden Borst.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, September 24, 2021 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Castillo officiating. Bro. Derric Williams led congregational singing. Burial was in the Christian Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Derric Williams, Clay Proffitt, Marty Smith, Ed McNally, Charlie Cyphers, and Kern Riddle. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
