Mr. Ray Kermit Scott of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 22 days. He was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Monday, June 27, 1932, the son of Richard and Pearl McIntyre Scott. He was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and was a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Ruth Spears Scott, whom he married on Tuesday, April 1, 1952, his brothers, Ira Scott, Russell Scott, Cecil Scott, Berchie Scott, Webb Scott, his sisters, Nina Bean, Hazel Bean, Frances Owens, and his nephews, James Bean, and Jamie Spears. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Mosier of Glasgow, Kentucky, Lilera Scott of Russell Springs, Kentucky, a special great-great-nephew, Noah Young of Burkesville, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Parson officiating. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Noah Young, Neal Spears, Gary McCool, Landry Spears, Tobie Bean, and Allen Sewell. Honorary Casket Bearers were Dale Appleby, Eddie Watson, Kenny Bean, Danny Jo Bean, Charlie Keen, Doc Young, Jason Norris, Shannon Spears, Trenton Bean, and Steve Scott. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
