Nelda (Thrasher) Garner

Mrs. Nelda Jewell (Thrasher) Garner of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, having attained the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 23 days.  She was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Friday, March 24, 1939, the daughter of Willie and Ellie (Flowers) Thrasher. She was a Christian, a homemaker and a farmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl “Curly” Garner, siblings, Tessie Watkins, Lucille Akins, Lowell Wray, Oleen Richardson, Geneva Thacker, Bercie Flowers, Marie Perkins, infant sister, Joyce Thrasher, Herbert Howard Thrasher and Willie Cloyd Thrasher.

She is survived by her children, Billy Garner, Kenneth Garner, Kathy Garner, all of Burkesville, Kentucky, and Jennifer Dishman of Albany, Kentucky, siblings, Lewis Thrasher, Jesse (and Rebecca) Thrasher, Matthew Thrasher, and Anna Mae (& Garry) Wolff, grandchildren, Matthew (& Samantha) Garner, Malorie Elizabeth (and Timmy Joe) Braswell, William Douglas Garner (& Hannah Staley), Lacey (& Zach) Vibbert, Alexis Nicole (& Dustin Jr. ) Lawson, Christian Allan Garner, Dustin (& Angela) Wilson, great grandchildren, Brylee Mae Jewel Garner, Waylon Gray Lawson, Easton Lewis Vibbert, Preston Jo Braswell, Mason William Braswell, Skylar Aaron Braswell, Sophia Elizabeth Braswell, Azalea Marie Grace Bowling, Noah James Bowling, Mason Adam Bowling, Pixie Lynn Garner, Caleb Wilson, and Xander Wilson.

The funeral service was conducted on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Burial was in the Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Matthew Garner, William Garner, Rondall Wray, Zach Vibbert, Dusty Lawson, Brandon Wright. Honorary casket bearers were Christian Garner, Dr. Robert Flowers Sr., Dr. Robert Flowers Jr., Billy Garner, Kenneth Garner, and Matthew Thrasher.
