Nelda Faye (Claywell) Shirley

Mrs. Nelda Faye (Claywell) Shirley, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 74 years, 4 months and 26 days. She was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Saturday, October 16, 1948 the daughter of Gloud and Mary (Anderson) Claywell. She was of the Church of Christ faith, and was the produce manager for the Save-A-Lot Store in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. Nelda was the 7th of 9 children born in Burkesville, Kentucky. She cherished her time with her family whom she loved with all her heart. Nelda will be remembered for having such a big heart and her willingness to help others. She always looked for the good in everyone. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Claywell, Roy Claywell, Leland Claywell, Terry Claywell, and a sister, Magdelene Richards.

     She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Shirley, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky whom she wed on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, son, David Cash of Albany, Kentucky, step-children, Michael J. Shirley, Jr. and Timmy Wayne Shirley both of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, siblings, Mildred York of New Castle, Indiana, John (& Brenda) Claywell, Jimmy (& Betty) Claywell both of Burkesville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Nicholas Cash, Coty Cash, Jordan Cash, Blake Cash, Step grandchildren, Nickolas Shirley, Caylan Shirley, great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, Anthony, Jayce, Kyleigh, Bently, Malaki, along with several friends.

     The Funeral Service was conducted on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Gary Cash officiating, eulogist was Nick Cash. Casket bearers were Michael Shirley, Blake Cash, Nick Cash, Coty Cash, Jordan Cash, and Timmy Shirley. Honorary casket bearers were Archie Young, Nickolas Shirley, Randy Upchurch, and E. Allen Cash. Burial was in the Smith Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County, Ky. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
