Nancy Thomas Murphy

Mrs. Nancy (Thomas) Murphy of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019, at The Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 28 days. She was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Monday, May 8, 1933, the daughter of Bazil and Nannie (Davis) Thomas. She was of Methodist faith, a member of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, and a Nurse's Aide for Cumberland County Hospital and Lifeline. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Murphy, whom she married Saturday, January 24, 1953, siblings, James Thomas, John Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Billy Joe Thomas, Geneva Ruff, Bonnie Melton, Ava Appleby, Evelyn Orton, and nephew, Ronnie Thomas. She is survived by her children, Truman Michael Murphy, Deborah Murphy-Irby, Cliff Murphy, all of Burkesville, Kentucky, Daryl Gene (Michelle) Murphy of Glasgow, Kentucky, grandchildren, Josh (Kelci) Murphy, Jordan Murphy, Beth (Corey) Cash, Anthony (Elizabeth) Gilbert, Corey (Codi) Murphy, Kelsie (Josh) Cooksey, Corbin Murphy, Katie Murphy, and great-grandchildren, Connor Cash, Evan Cash, Landon Gilbert, Emma Gilbert, Cara Beth Murphy, Curtis Cooksey, Travis Cooksey, and Weston Cooksey. The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, August 8, 2019, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Lanny Garner officiating. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Josh Murphy, Jordan Murphy, Corey Murphy, Anthony Gilbert, Corbin Murphy, Josh Cooksey, and Corey Cash. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
