Mrs. Mattie Ella (Murphy) Huddleston, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020, at The Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 10 days. She was born on Saturday, January 28, 1928, in Monroe County, Kentucky, the daughter of Virgil and Mary Bell (Fluty) Murphy. She was of Christian faith, a member of Red Banks United Methodist Church, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray Washington Huddleston, whom she wed Saturday, February 7, 1948, daughter, Cinda Faye Huddleston, sister, Della Fletcher, brothers, Cleve Murphy, Fowler Murphy, Paul Murphy, J. C. Murphy, and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Fletcher) Murphy and Edith (Groce) Murphy.
She is survived by her children, Linda Mae (Huddleston) Davidson, Charles Ray (and Audry Adams) Huddleston, David K. Huddleston, Patty Ann Huddleston, all of Burkesville, Kentucky, nephew, Morris Murphy of Indianapolis, Indiana, nieces, Rebecca (and John) Murphy of Burkesville, Kentucky, Tina Murphy of Louisville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Donna (and Stacy) Pendleton, Beverly (and Brian) Cherry, Heather (and Marty) Smith, great-grandchildren, Brooklyn (and Cody) Collins, Bridget Cherry, Ella Smith, Marlaina Pendleton, Makenna Pendleton, great-great-grandson, Kyler Collins, several cousins and other family members.
The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, October 11, 2020, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Shelley officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Charles Huddleston, Stacy Pendleton, Marty Smith, Brian Cherry, John Murphy, and Keith Anderson.
