MRS. DONNIE MAYFIELD POLSTON

Mrs. Donnie Carlos (Mayfield) Polston, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at her son's home in Tompkinsville having attained the age of 89 years, 3 months & 29 days. She was born in Glasgow (Barren County) Kentucky on Thursday, April 22, 1937 the daughter of Carlos Mitchell “C.M.” & Ercia Mabel (Anderson) Mayfield. She was a Christian lady, of the Church of Christ faith, a class of 1955 graduate of Burkesville High School, attained her B.A. from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, and finished her training at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green with a Masters degree & Rank I in education. She loved her students and was proud to have taught English & Spanish at Marrowbone High School 1958-1961, Cumberland County High School 1961-1966, Gamaliel High School 1966-1968, Tompkinsville High School 1968-1986, & Monroe County High School 1986-1988; She was co-owner of Yokley-Polston Funeral Home from 1966 to 1982, a director of the Tompkinsville Housing Authority; member of the Retired Teachers Association & The Cumberland County Woman's Club. The words to best describe “Mrs. Donnie” are gracious, kind & friendly, a true southern lady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dale Polston; son, Billy Mitchell Polston Boyanov.

She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing, her son, John Mayfield Polston (& Dr. Mary Todd Stephenson); granddaughter, Kellimae Polston Page (& Wesley Page); great grandchildren, Lola Ann Page, Lucy Mae Page & Wyatt James Page all of Tompkinsville; a host of friends & former students.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. CST at The Grandview Church of Christ, 70 Armory Rd. in Tompkinsville, Kentucky 42167, with Bro. Kerry Tooley & Bro. Larry Graves officiating. Burial will follow in the Marrowbone Cemetery in Marrowbone, Kentucky, Casket bearers will be, Bro. Larry Graves, Randy Williams, Mark Williams, Billy Joe Williams, Tommy Geralds & Mike Darnell; honorary casket bearers will be, Wesley Page, Ricky Ross, Ricky Miller, Aaron Polston, Sandy Conkin Moore, Dr. Tony Carter, Doug Dugle, Josh Anderson, James Graves, Casey Tooley, Randy Dawson, Timmy Thrasher, Andy Bushong, Tuck Johnson, Kerry McPherson & Kerry Kerr.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026 after 10:00 A.M. CST AT THE GRANDVIEW CHURCH OF CHRIST IN TOMPKINSVILLE until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to the Marrowbone Cemetery in her memory.
