Linda (Gilbert) Perdue Obituary

Linda Lee Gilbert Perdue age 80 went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, cherished memories and more than a few stories worth telling.

Linda, originally of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday October 12, 2026, at Life Care Center of Sparta in Sparta, Tennessee surrounded by family. She was born June 23, 1946, at home in Cumberland County Kentucky.

Linda never met a stranger and enjoyed conversations with friends and family. She was a woman with a feisty spirit, a stubborn streak and a personality that was entirely her own. Life with her was rarely dull and those who knew her best wouldn't have had her any other way.

She loved to travel, especially if it meant getting behind the wheel and putting her foot a little heavier on the gas pedal than necessary. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and talking to just about anyone willing to listen. She never needed much of an excuse to strike up a conversation.

She had talented hands and enjoyed sewing and crocheting . She also had a heart for helping others and devoted time and energy to raising money for charitable causes. She loved bringing people together whether for a good cause, a card game or simply a good visit.

As much as she loved staying busy and socializing, nothing meant more to her than her family. She dearly loved her children but her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. They brought immeasurable joy and she loved them fiercely. She loved Jesus and the familiar sounds of old southern gospel music. Those songs of faith, Heaven and the promise of eternal life were close to her heart.

She had a little fire in her soul, a generous heart and a love for people that made her unforgettable. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her feisty spirit, love of a good conversation and her adventures behind the wheel.

There's comfort in knowing that the woman who loved Jesus and those old southern gospel songs is now home with the Savior she sang about. She did life her own way, loved her people tremendously and gave us a lifetime of memories and if Heaven has speed limits, we can only hope she's slowing down.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lefus & Lillie Mae Gilbert, brothers Grifton “Gis” Gilbert, Devona “Bony” Gilbert, sisters Alta Brown, Rebecca Cook & Martha Claywell.

She is survived by her daughters Cindy, Marla (CHAD) WIllis; grands Maranda LeeAnn (Caleb) Morse, Cameron Lee & Theo James “TJ” Morse, Chelsey Day (Jordan Smith), Marcus “Jaden” & Jordan Preston “JP” Smith, Estee, Lillie & Ari Willis; brothers Campbell Gilbert, Jessie Gilbert; sisters Louise Smith, Darlin “Dooley”(Ricky) Dyer & Arlene “Bell Smith.
