Lewis Fluty Obituary

Mr. Lewis Fluty of Georgetown, Kentucky formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown, Kentucky having attained the age of 87 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was born in Monroe County, Kentucky on Sunday, July 10, 1932, the son of Milt and Sallie (Murphy) Fluty. He was of the Methodist faith, attended Red Banks United Methodist Church and the Grace Union Baptist Church, and was a self employed farmer. He was best known for his sense of humor, twinkle in his eye, and Fluty Homegrown Tomatoes. His family will never forget his love for marathon card games that often lasted until early morning. His guilty pleasure was holding cards and he took a special pride in spreading a canasta straight from his hand. He enjoyed singing and spent many years as the music leader at Red Banks Methodist Church. He loved his Lord and was a devoted Christian. His favorite book was the Bible which he read cover-to-cover repeatedly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Fluty, brothers, David Fluty, Dan Fluty, J.E. Fluty. He is survived by his wife, Ruby D. (Sanders) Fluty of Georgetown, Kentucky, whom he wed on Saturday, June 15, 1957, children, Regina Lynn (Gary) Pruitt of Georgetown, Kentucky, Anthony Wayne (Lori) Fluty of Georgetown, Kentucky, Lewis Douglas Fluty of Lexington, Kentucky, Loretta Gail (Bruce) Clark of Lexington, Kentucky, Mark Edward (Janet) Fluty of Danville, Kentucky, his siblings, Vernie Anderson of Cave City, Kentucky, Shirley (Myrl) Riley of Burkesville, Kentucky, Jocie Poindexter of Glasgow, Kentucky, Lecil (Sherry) Fluty of Burkesville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Penny McElhaney (Rocky), Chad Pruitt (Jaclyn), Anthony "Tony" Fluty, Wesley Fluty, Kyle Clark, Seth Clark, Ryan Clark, Evan Clark, Marcus Fluty (Jessica), Adam Fluty, Sam Fluty (Emily), Nick Fluty, Elaina Fluty, Max Fluty, A.J. Fluty, and Ceci Fluty, great grandchildren, Luke McElhaney, Jake McElhaney, Tate McElhaney, Isla McElhaney, Chase Pruitt, John Paul Fluty, and Francisco Fluty. The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Huddleston, Bro Donnie Shelley, and Bro. Tim Fluty officiating. Burial was in the Murley Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Marcus Fluty, Adam Fluty, Sam Fluty, Seth Clark, Ryan Clark, Chad Pruitt. In lieu of flowers contributions appreciated to the Murley Cemetery Fund, c/o Larry S. Anderson, 4151 Judio Road, Burkesville, Kentucky 42717.
