Mr. Johnny Eugene Carter of Marrowbone passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday April 26, 2026. He was 77 years old. He was born on December 14,1948 to the late Eugene and Betty Anderson Carter. He was a devout Christian and member of Marrowbone Methodist Church. He retired after 36 ½ years as general manager of Cumberland County water district. He is preceded in death by his daughter Melissa Sells, parents Eugene and Betty Anderson Carter; paternal grandparents Horace B. and Mrytle M. Rush Carter; maternal grandparents Johnny Harrison and Sally Claywell Anderson; mother-in-law Pansy Lee; brother-in-law Robert Barger, brother-in-law Mike Davis; and nephews Jarred Davis, and Andrew Weiss.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Diane Carter; son Nick Carter of Marrowbone; grandchildren Jordan (& Tiffany) Carter, and JT (& Keleigh) Carter of Glasgow; great-grandchildren Koleton, Kade, Jessi Mae, and Jensen Carter, Maddix Sinclair and Memphis Spears; siblings Peggy (& Earl) Branham, David (& Debbie) Carter, Karen (& George) Melton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jimmy Barger, Cathey Davis, Alice Barger, Deborah Spears, and Anthony Barger; Very special friends Rondall and Julie Wray; along with several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. in the Marrowbone Methodist Church, 9138 Glasgow Road, Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Dean Smith and Bro. Darrell Bartley officiating. Special Music and singing by the Marrowbone Quartet & congregation. Burial was in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket bearers were, Jordan Carter, J.T. Carter, Ronnie Carter, Bill Garmon, Jeremiah Logan, Emory Messenger, Rex England & Todd “Bubba” Anderson. Honorary Casket bearers were, Nick Carter, Koleton Carter & Kade Carter
