Jerry Flowers Obituary

Jerry Lee Flowers, 67,  formerly of New Lisbon, Indiana, passed away Thursday evening February 20, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.  A son of the late John Henry and Mary Jane (Phillips) Flowers, Jerry was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 24, 1957.  He was raised in the New Lisbon community and attended Tri High School.  Jerry served his country for three years in the United States Army and went on to be a heavy equipment operator doing road construction. He especially liked his time on the finish grader.  Jerry was a thirty plus-year member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103 in Indianapolis and worked mainly for Gradex Inc. and other contractors.  A Milton resident for several years, Jerry was active in the community as a member of the Milton Volunteer Fire Department for twelve years and as Milton Town Marshal for five years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Jerry retired to Kentucky and in his leisure, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, eating spaghetti, and truly loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife and companion of 37 years, the former Tina Marie Maxwell.  After several years together, Tina finally gave in and the couple were married on July 4, 1998 at the car show in Cambridge City;  4 children, daughter, Brandie Bowling and granddaughter, Skylar Mikesell, son, Michael Flowers, daughter, Jeri Akers and grandchildren, Emmerson Hollenbaugh, Carter and Greyson Akers, son, John Flowers III and grandchildren, John IV, Liam and Zella Flowers; brother, Henry Flowers; 3 nieces, Pam Judson, Theresa Westphall and Mariangella Glaze; 1 nephew Jeremy Thomas.

Jerry was preceded in death by a daughter, Leeann Flowers; 3 sisters, Shirley Huff, Linda Flowers and Kathy Buskirk; niece, Patty Wilson.
