James "Jimmy" Garmon Jr. Obituary

    

Mr. James R. “Jimmy” Garmon Jr., of the Waterview Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at The Cumberland County Hospital, having attained the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 30 days. He was born in The Scott’s Bottom Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky, on Thursday, April 21, 1932, the son of James Robert, Sr. and Bernice Alma (Pennycuff) Garmon. He was of the Methodist faith, member of Grider United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a 1950 graduate of Burkesville High School, a dairy farmer for over 50 years, and worked in a car parts factory in Detroit, Kleenex Factory in California, and had a milk route in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Ruth Alexander, McIva Doebler.

     He is survived by his wife, Verna Jean (Hurt) Garmon, whom he wed on Friday, August 3, 1951, of The Waterview Community in Cumberland County, Kentucky, children, Terry (& Vicki) Garmon of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Vickie Brandt of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Sue Garmon (& Jim) Love of Madisonville, Kentucky, Charles (& Crystal) Garmon of Waterview, Kentucky, sister, Golda Nell Sewell of Nashville, Tennessee, grandchildren, Landyn (& Meghan) Garmon, Aubry (& Bob) Million, Justin (& Emily) Brandt, Jared (Adriane) Brandt, Matthew (& Brie Logsdon) Love, Kate Love, Travis Garmon, Shelby (& Tristen Keller) Garmon, great-grandchildren, Willa Garmon, Eli Garmon, Addy Brandt, Elizabeth Brandt, Sonny Brandt, Indiana Brandt.

A private funeral service was held for Mr. James R. “Jimmy” Garmon, Jr. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Brother Gary Hardin officiating. Burial was in the Grider Memorial Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Justin Brandt, Jared Brandt, Matthew Love, Kate Love, Travis Garmon, Shelby Garmon, Landyn Garmon and Aubry Million. In lieu of Flowers, memorials are suggested to the Grider United Methodist Church or The Grider Memorial Cemetery c/o Margenia Keeton, 170 Fudge Hill, Burkesville, Kentucky 42717. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
