James Willard Gilbert

Mr. James Willard Gilbert, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in Morgantown (Butler County), Kentucky having attained the age of 43 years, 9 months & 7 days. He was born on Thursday, October 12, 1978, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the son of Donald & Brenda Sue (Hardin) Gilbert. He was of the Methodist faith, member of Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church, Cumberland County High School graduate, Class of 1997, and was a Short Line Thermo Operator for Reynolds Sealing and Striping.

     He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Columbus “Clum” & Selvia (Baker) Gilbert, maternal grandparents, James “Less” & Altia (Thrasher) Hardin.

     He is survived by his mother, Brenda Sue Hardin of Burkesville, Kentucky, father, Donald (& Pam) Gilbert of Burkesville, Kentucky, wife, Terra (Riley) Gilbert of Bowling Green, Kentucky, children, Alexis Nicole Gilbert (& Seth Miles) of Burkesville, Kentucky, Zaylee Dawn Gilbert of Burkesville, Kentucky, Callie Reece Gilbert of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Charlie Riley Gilbert of Bowling Green, Kentucky, siblings, Jesse Hay (& Jaime) Gilbert of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Brittany Gilbert of Burkesville, Kentucky, grandchild, Ada James Miles, mother-in-law & father-in-law, Leisa & Willie Riley, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Sarah & Colby Key, nieces & nephews, Presley Gilbert, Monroe Gilbert, Knox Gilbert, Prentis Key, along with many friends and other loved ones.

     The funeral service was held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Cash & Bro. Todd Bryant officiating. Casket bearers were Presley Gilbert, Doug Willis, Colby Key, Matt Anderson, Mitchell Graham, and Tray Coleman. Honorary casket bearers were Phillip Davidson, Seth Miles, Albert Wilson, and Cory Branham. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to help pay final expenses and may be left at the funeral home.
