Gertie Alene (Brewington) Collins

Mrs. Gertie Alene (Brewington) Collins of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 94 years, 5 months & 17 days. She was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on Tuesday, August 21, 1928 the daughter of Marvin & Clyde (Spears) Brewington. She was a member of the Burkesville Church of Christ and she was a dietician for the Cumberland County Hospital. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ottley Collins whom she wed on Saturday June 7, 1947, son, Roger Lee Collins, daughter, Sue Harvey, infant sister, brothers, Paul Brewington, Lyle Brewington, Ferd Brewington, Robert Brewington, Keith Brewington, Kenneth Brewington, Billy Brewington, Reid Brewington, sisters, Jewell Smith, Mae Brewington, Pearl Janes.

     She is survived by her children, John Wayne (& Phyllis) Collins of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael Alan (& Tina) Collins of Burkesville, Kentucky, Beverly Jo Harp of Louisville, Kentucky, Grandchildren, William Lee, John Thomas, Casey Alan, Brandi, Jamie Leigh, Brooke, Molly, Fred Allen, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  

     The Funeral Service was conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. ,noon, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Brewington officiating. Casket bearers were William Collins, Cody Daniels, Daniel Boles, Peyton Hood, Nolan Hood, and Casey Collins. Burial was in The Dodson Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
