Frank Brendel III Obituary

Mr. Frank Anthony Blackburn Brendel III of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his residence in Cumberland County, Kentucky, having attained the age of 58 years, 5 months, and 3 days. He was born on Saturday, March 9, 1968, in Canton, Ohio, the son of Frank “Bim” Brendel Jr. & Patricia “Pat” Brendel.

Frank spent much of his life in Canton before returning to Burkesville to assist his parents in operating Hendricks Creek Resort. There, he worked closely with his sister, Patty, and formed many lasting relationships with the resort’s guests. He was known for his warm, approachable nature, his sense of humor, and his willingness to lend a hand.

In his earlier years, Frank attended the White Mountain School, where he discovered a love of skiing and made many lasting memories.

Outside of his work at the resort, Frank had various hobbies and interests over the years. He enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. He also had a longtime appreciation for horses and enjoyed building and collecting models, a hobby that reflected his attention to detail and patience. Naturally handy, he could often be found building, improving, or repairing something whenever the opportunity arose.

Above all, Frank’s greatest joy was his family. His children have fond memories of summers spent together at the lake—days filled with time on the water, family gatherings, and friends. These memories continue to be cherished and shared by his children and grandchildren.

Frank will be remembered with love by his family, friends, and the many people he came to know through Hendricks Creek Resort. He was a dependable friend who valued the people in his life, and he will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank “Bim” Brendel Jr. & Patricia “Pat” Brendel.

He is survived by his children, Caitlin (& Michael) Lambright of Canton, Ohio, Jordan Brendel (& Brett Nida) of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Logan Brendel (& Carrie Gruendike) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; grandchildren, Madeline Nida, Maia Lambright, and Michael Lambright; siblings, Patty (& Paul) Sharp of Burkesville, Kentucky, Charlette (& Ross) Bellew of Cottage Grove, Tennessee, Lillian (& Duaine) Rebstock of Franklin, Kentucky, and Frances (& Bill) Haigh of Scottsville, Kentucky; and longtime friend and honorary brother, Tony Riddle.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Shelton and Jordan Brendel officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17, 2026, after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Canton, Ohio.
