 Mrs. Effie Alyne (Hoots) Johnson, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 27 days. She was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on Saturday, March 1st, 1930, the daughter of Leonard F. & Minnie (Groce) Hoots. She was a Christian, a member of Highland Chapel Global Methodist Church, a business owner, having co-owned and operated Johnson's Funiture Fair with her husband, enjoyed making quilts, and growing pretty flowers & plants. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John M. Johnson, whom she married on Saturday, December 28, 1946, her siblings, Allen Hoots, Crystell Daniel, Alma Lowery, Thelma Carter, Millie Ethel Hoots and Wesley Howard Hoots.

She is survived by her children, Wanda Cyphers-Carter of Burkesville, Kentucky, Roger (& Karen) Johnson, of Lucas, Kentucky, Stevie (& Debbie) Johnson of Burkesville, brother, L.F (& Bonnie) Hoots of Albany, Kentucky, grandchildren, Stephanie (& Barry) Anderson, Stacey (& Tony) Gilbert, Kevin (& Leslie) Johnson, Nathan (& Crystell) Johnson, Ashley (& Daniel) Howard, John William (& Loren) Huff, great-grandchildren, Tabitha (& Chris) Whitlow, William Shockley (& special friend, Jessica Daniels), Melissa & Tierre) Hill,  Jeffery (& Leticia) Cyphers, Randall (& Alonna) Cyphers, Anthony Gilbert, Brandon Anderson, Kaleb Johnson, Avery Johnson, Taylor Craig, Katye Howard, Easton Howard, Dalton Whitlow, Ragen Whitlow, Kamen Whitlow, great-great grandchildren, Kaylee, Konner, Shelby, Aubrey, Harley, Garrett, Mallee Jo, Allie Jo, Lucas, Brixton, great-great-great grandchild, Stetson Tyler.

The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky, with Rev. Mark Benton and Cumberland County Judge/Executive Luke King officiating. Burial was in The Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Kevin Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Jeffery Cyphers, Randall Cyphers, Brandon Dixon, Kaleb Johnson, and Brandon Anderson. Honorary casket bearers were Easton Howard, Avery Johnson, and Garrett Cyphers. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
