Dale Wright Obituary

The world became a little quieter, and heaven a bit brighter on April 22, 2026, when Dale Norris Wright, aged 68, peacefully passed away at his home on Dutch Creek after a courageously fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Born on October 23, 1957, in Burkesville, Kentucky, Dale was the cherished son of the late Roy Edward and Nina Grace (Norris) Wright. Growing up in a household filled with love and faith, Dale’s values were shaped by the warmth of his parents and the close-knit community around him.

Dale was a proud 1976 graduate of Cumberland County High School where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a passion for music and community service. With a heart full of devotion, he married the love of his life, (Ruby Burchett) Wright, on June 15, 1986. Together they built a life rich with love and laughter, raising their beloved son, Jeremy Dale Wright, in a home where joy and family were cornerstones. For over 25 years, Dale served the Cumberland County School District as a beloved and dedicated bus driver. Further known for his gentle nature and warm smile, he greeted each day with enthusiasm and a commitment to ensuring the safety and happiness of the children in his care. His work was more than a job, it was a calling, a chance to make a difference in the lives of young people.

A man of deep faith, Dale was a devoted member of Dutch Creek Methodist Church for over 40 years. There he shared his God-Given talents as an amazing musician, playing guitar and singing gospel music with several groups. His voice and his songs were not just music, but a means to lead souls to his savior, Jesus Christ. His contributions to the church community were immeasurable, and he leaves behind a legacy of spiritual guidance and love. Dale also dedicated 30 years of service as a Certified Shooting Sports Coach with Cumberland County 4-H. Known for his encouraging words “Got your eyes and ears, boys?” he inspired countless young people to pursue their passion with diligence and integrity.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, (Ruby Burchett) Wright, who stood by his side through every day and challenge. Their son, Jeremy Dale (&Crystal) Wright, continues Dale’s legacy of love, music, and kindness. Dale’s pride and joy were his grandson Jayden Hunter Wright and step-grandchildren Graicy and Tyler Rayburn, who brought boundless happiness into his life. Dale also leaves behind his loving sister, Brenda Farlee, and sister-in-law Martina (&Matthew) Perkins, his nieces Cindy Craft, Brilee Perkins, and nephews Joe Hardin, Jamie Farlee, Jordan Farlee, Dylan Perkins, and Christopher Perkins, who will forever cherish the memories of their dear uncle, special caregivers Amanda Moore and Amber Arms provided unwavering support and love during his final days.

Preceding Dale in death, his cherished parents Roy and Grace Wright, his sister Gail Hardin, brother in laws, Rev. Lynn Farlee and Brian Burchett, and a nephew Eddie Farlee, who welcomed him home with open arms.

Dales’ life was a testament to the power of faith, music, and family. His gentle spirit and unwavering love will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. As we celebrate his remarkable journey, we take comfort in knowing that his melody will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service honoring his life was held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, with Bro. Ron Turner and Bro. David Norris officiating. A eulogy was shared by his grandson Jayden Hunter Wright. Family and friends gathered and shared memories, songs, and prayers celebrating a life well lived, and a soul well loved.
