Mr. Bruce R. Blythe, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 1 day. He was born in Whites Bottom Community of Cumberland County on Monday October 8, 1928, the son of Frank Homer (F.H.) and Stella Ova (Smith) Blythe. He was a member of the Marrowbone Methodist Church, and was a construction worker for Simpson Construction in Glasgow, Kentucky and a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Short) Blythe, whom he wed Tuesday August 15, 1944, his brother, Leslie Milt "L.M." Blythe, his nephew, Gary Wayne Blythe, his grandparents, Milt and Rosa Smith, Lectie (Smith) Smith, Leslie and Maude (Murley) Blythe. He is survived by his daughter, Janie Paull (and Ronnie) Carter of Marrowbone, Kentucky, special niece, Bernice (Short) Boston of Burkesville, Kentucky, sisters - in-law, Dixie Spears and Ruby Skipworth, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, aunt, Grace (and Harold) Zito, uncle, James Howard (and Bessie) Smith, along with a host of other nieces and nephews. The Funeral service was conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2020 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Hardin, and Bro. Todd Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Murley Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Special music by the Marrowbone United Methodist Church Choir. Casket Bearers were Donnie Carter, David Carter, James Dyer, David Patrick, Darrell Skipworth, Randy Skipworth. Honarary Casket Bearers were, Bobby Riddle, Junior Gray, Dr. Sam Rice, Johnny Carter, Larry Anderson, Bill Garmon, Randy Fudge, Wayne Key. Norris-New Funeral Home was honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
