Bro. Tommy Watson Obituary

Bro. Tommy Douglas “Tom” Watson, of Burkesville (Kettle), Kentucky passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 74 years, 9 months and 21 days. He was born on Saturday, March 9, 1946 the son of Carson Lee “Red” & Lottie Lee (Stalcup) Watson. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served as minister for the Hickory Grove Congregation for over 14 years. He was a graduate of the Cumberland County High School class of 1964, attained a Bachelors, Masters, and Rank I from Western Kentucky University, was a teacher in the Cumberland County School System for over 30 years, and was a former girls & boys basketball coach, golf coach, and Transportation Director, loved music and was a good musician. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law & mother-in-law, W.B. & Grace (Sharp) Wyatt.

He is survived by his wife, whom he wed on September 2, 1967, Nancy Karen (Wyatt) Watson of Burkesville, children, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Watson of Burkesville, Brad Douglas (& Summer) Watson of Glasgow, Kentucky, sister, Mary Ellen Watson of Tennessee, sister-in-law, Nelda Wyatt of Burkesville, grandchildren, William Blaine Watson, Brynn Livia Watson, & Lillian Grace “Lily” Dishman.

The funeral was conducted on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Castillo & Bro. Keith Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Christian Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County Kentucky. The casket bearers were Blaine Watson, Kim McCoy, Mark Brewington, Kenny Brown, Darrell Hopper, Jerry Davis, Lance Cash, and Ethan Cash. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to The WE CARE organization of Cumberland County or The Tom Watson Memorial Scholarship fund, (c/o Citizens Bank of Cumberland County).
