Ara Jane (Bowen) King

Mrs. Ara Jane (Bowen) King of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Cumberland Valley Mannor & Rehab in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 27 days. She was born on Sunday, July 8, 1934, in the Bear Creek Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky, the daughter of Luther & Ruth (Williams) Bowen. She was of the Christian faith, and was a homemaker & lifelong babysitter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard King, whom she wed on Sunday, June 30, 1957, brothers, Wayne Bowen, Roy Bowen, Berle Bowen, sisters, Margenia Williams, Nelda Pierce, half siblings, James Bowen, Winnie Arndell, Vida Doss, Oleta Arndell.

She is survived by her special niece, Etheline (& Joe) Neeley of Marrowbone, Kentucky, several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, sisters-in-law, Weltha King, Jo Bowen, Linda Decker and Yvonne King, and special friend Gustava Thompson of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Luke King, David King, Travis Radford, Dustin Anderson, Jeremy Cooksey, and Josh Cooksey.
