Mr. Alton Edward Cary of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at T.J. Sampson Hospital In Glasgow, Kentucky, having attained the age of 88 years, 11 months and 28 days. He was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on Friday, June 5, 1936, the son of Hobert and Bera (Milam) Cary. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Church of Christ, a farmer, and factory worker for Crotty’s Factory in Celina, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Delton Cary, and Shelton Cary.
He is survived by his ex-wife of fifty-one years, Virginia L. (Pollard) Cary of Peytonsburg, Kentucky, son, Jeffrey (& Janie) Cary, daughter, Joyce (& Joe) Davidson, all of Cumberland County, Kentucky, special friends, Misty (& Michael) Decker, Gracie Decker, nieces, Vickie Wells, Linda Phillips, Brenda Evanyk, nephew, Shelton Wayne Cary Jr., grandchild, JaTeah Cary, great-grandchild, Shelby Nichole Cary.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Burial was in the Murley Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Michael Decker, Randy Rieser, Mike Neatherly, Doug Neatherly, Travis Decker, and Ruben Gray. Honorary casket bearers were Frankie Branham and Josh Vibbert.
