Alta Virginia (Davidson) Short

Mrs. Alta Virginia (Davidson) Short, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, surrounded by loved ones having attained the age of 90 years, 11 months & 19 days. She was born on Monday, July 27, 1931, in Burkesville, Kentucky, the daughter of Howard P. and Ethel (Johnson) Davidson. She was a Christian woman, member of Church, attended Gaines Hill School, and later received an education in the culinary arts, was the head decorator at Bake Rite Bakery, and decorated beautiful cakes for events in both Indiana and Kentucky, in 1974 she married the love of her life and together they completed their family together and enjoyed many years together in Cumberland County.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis C. Short, whom she wed on 1974, siblings, Betty (Davidson) Riley, Jean (Davidson) Booher, eight sisters-in-laws, and six brothers-in-law.

     She is survived by her children, Kenneth (& Yuporn) Roach of Thailand, Judy (Roach) Ervin of Muncie, Indiana, Angie C. Short of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, grandchildren, Holly, Jessie, Jocelyn, Chance, great-grandchildren, Matthew, Heather, Chance, along with many nieces and nephews, including Kathy (Riley) Groce, and grand-niece, Whitney (Groce) Perkins,

     The funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Thompson officiating. Casket bearers were Johnny Riley, Donnie Riley, Terry Riley, Jeremy Groce, Mitch Booher, Dale Roach, and Kelly Riley. In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to St. Judes Children Research Hospital, and may be left at the funeral home. Burial was in the Gaines Hill Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
