Albert Gilliam Alexander Obituary

Mr. Albert Gilliam Alexander of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Glasgow Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky having attained the age of 87 years, 8 months and 18 days. He was born on Wednesday, November 23, 1938, in Marrowbone, Kentucky, the son of James Richard & Jeanavee Grace (Riddle) Alexander. He was of the Christian faith, having been baptized in Marrowbone Creek, and was brought up in the Marrowbone Presbyterian Church. He was later a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church, of Louisville, Kentucky, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and church youth leader. Albert also proudly served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and later retired from Ford Moter Company as a process engineer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Alexander and David Alexander.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Frances (Wells) Alexander; sons, Gil (& Lisa) Alexander, Kevin (& Angie) Alexander, both of Louisville, Kentucky, Eric Alexander of Hohenwald, Tennessee, Stephen Louis (& Stacy) Alexander of Louisville, Kentucky; siblings, Greg (& Betty) Alexander of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Rebecca Alexander (& Carol Creech) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; grandchildren, Lindsey (& Jon) Hines, Cassandra (& Laurent) Farina, Emma Grace Alexander, Malcolm Alexander, Ian Alexander, Paige Alexander; and great-grandson, Wendell Alexander Hines.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. CST in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, 2026, after 12:00 Noon CST until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Marrowbone Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky with Military Honors provided by the DAV Chapter #105 of Monticello, Kentucky.
