Aira (Riddle) Groce

Mrs. Aira (Riddle) Groce of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at her home, having attained the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 23 days. She was born on Wednesday, January 1, 1936, in Burkesville, Kentucky to Leo Riddle and Pansy (Spears) Riddle Wagoman. She was a Christian, a member of Red Banks Church, and a seamstress. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Bee” Groce, her son, Geary Groce, her daughter, Vicky Avery, and her sister, Edith Murphy. Aira was a mother, wife, and sister. She was one of the greatest women with a kind heart who loved her children and it showed in every action. She always put everyone above herself. Words alone cannot do justice for the amazing woman that she was.  

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Shelly Groce of Indianapolis, Indiana, her siblings, James Riddle of Indianapolis, Indiana, Inis Sanders of Indianapolis, Indiana, Roger Riddle of Burkesville, Kentucky, and Joseph Surratt of Indianapolis, Indiana and several other family members.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Huddleston officiating. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Groce Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
